What is the Wedding Day Event Kit?

The wedding day event kit is essentially the event planner’s emergency kit. It’s your prepared-for-anything equipment toolkit. It’s usually a collection of small equipment and supplies that you might need to deal with minor situations and incidents at your event site.

It’s worth noting that emergency kits vary across sectors of the events industry. It also depends on where your wedding is held (e.g. marquee in a park versus an indoor reception centre) as to what you might need to pack, but we recommend taking a look at what hire or styling items you have planned for your set up and pack anything you may need to fix/mend/solve any issues that could arise.

For outdoor events you are likely to find heavy-duty items such as trolleys, hammers and even bags of sand. Whereas for indoor weddings, the wedding day event kit is usually filled with styling and bride items such as make-up, pins and emergency clothing repair equipment.

In this article, we give you our go-to list of items for a basic wedding day event kit.

πŸ’‘Pro Tip: Every event planner will have a slightly different collection of items in their kit and maybe a slightly different name for it, and that’s fine. Do whatever works for you! It’s all about knowing the requirements of your specific event and thinking about what you might need.

Start with the Container

When creating your event kit, the first thing you should do is get a container.

What do we use at our event agency? We have 45-litre/12-gallon plastic storage containers that we keep constantly stocked. We always keep a couple of extra tubs empty so they are ready to pack with unexpected items during the event set-up.

Size and Style Matters

Consider what you need to carry and the potential weight of your container. You might decide you want one big plastic tub, or perhaps you’re a minimalist and prefer a backpack that you can carry easily to various venues. The more you add, the heavier the container so, if you opt for a large container, make sure you get one with wheels!

We recommend you try to find the sweet spot with size and weight. Get a container that is large enough to hold everything you might need, but not so large that you can’t lift it when it’s full.
